Our Story
Barnstone Art for Kids is a 501(c)(3) organization located in Phoenixville, PA that was founded by Lynn Detwiler in 2011, merging her lifelong passion for art with experience in doing group facilitation work with grieving children. The concept of the organization was sketched out in a retail art gallery. Soon it became clear that the sheer brilliance of art was in its power to encourage individuals to heal, cope, and grow.
With some modest financial, material, and volunteer support from patrons and artists, Barnstone Art for Kids launched its first small group mentoring program in the fall of 2011. We have grown and expanded our program offerings in the intervening years. We continue to seek new ways to inform our communities about the dangers of ACEs and provide creative, inspiring programs to children. We are glad you are here and encourage you to join us in this important work.
